Most people on a beach vacation set out to achieve a summer glow. A dermatologist might say that there is no such thing as safe sun exposure. However, there is too much fun to be had in the sun to stay indoors while vacationing on the Gulf Coast. So, here are a few ways to gain a golden tan while limiting harmful sun exposure.
Exfoliate Skin: Prepping your skin for sun is an important step in maintaining a healthy glow. Dryness can create rough, patchy areas on the skin. Exfoliating with a sugar scrub will slough off dead skin without over drying and help create a smooth, even tan.
Moisturize Skin: After exfoliating, apply a rich moisturizer to keep skin smooth and supple. Most importantly, drink plenty of water. Good hydration promotes skin health and keeps you energized during beach activities.
Use Sunscreen with SPF: The beaches along the Gulf Coast allure travelers with white sand and emerald water. Yet, strong sunlight reflecting off the beach has the potential to create legendary sunburns. Use a tanning lotion with sunscreen that is labeled SPF 15 or higher to protect your skin from burns.
